Current challenges for charitable organisations in Mexico: issues highlighted through pro bono services

As part of the pro bono legal practice at Basham, Ringe & Correa, we work closely with charitable Mexican organisations whose purpose is to satisfy a social need or gap. As per Mexican law, charitable organisations are usually incorporated as civil associations (AC). Pursuant to Mexican civil codes, an AC is generally understood to be an organisation of individuals with common objectives not forbidden by law, who do not have a preponderant economic interest.
