Pro bono support to realise the non-refoulement principle for Congolese refugee detained in the US

The case of Mr. L is presented in this article. Mr. L has been recognized as a refugee by the Brazilian Government and yet had to fight against deportation to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. According to the non-refoulement principle, no one should be returned to a country where they could face inhumane treatment. Through pro bono support, Mr. L filed a writ of mandamus and has had protection granted.
