Overcoming the barriers to international pro bono
Multimedia Presentation at International Bar Association Annual Conference 2009 Madrid
6 October 2009, 1500-1800, Montreal Room
There is no shortage of reasons why international, and especially cross-border pro bono work, can't be done. Voices from both within and beyond the law firm community are ready to cite daunting economic, administrative and cultural barriers.
But they can be overcome.
During this program six of the leading figures in international pro bono (from law firms, corporations and international NGO's) will demonstrate how they have been able to overcome these barriers, both in direct presentations and in discussions with one another and with the audience. Their oral presentations will be augmented with video accompaniment. The program will be filmed by an award-winning team of professionals.
Those attending the Madrid Conference will be able to participate in the program (Tuesday, 6 October 2009, 1500-1800, Montreal Room). The contributions of several dozen other organizations around the world will be edited into the final product. Those unable to attend in Madrid will be able to access it on www.internationalprobono.com, the website exclusively devoted to international pro bono.
We hope you will participate, in person or via the website.
